Project Description

We research our villages thoroughly, discuss with leaders, and live together to better understand the needs of the community. We’re currently working on improving infrastructure, education, and health through joint initiatives funded by the government, the sale of our coffee, and the gracious donors who believe in our work. Projects we are actively engaging in:

  1. Logistics, roads, potable water, etc.
  2. Education (e.g. resources for local schools, coffee processing, business etc.)
  3. Health initiatives (e.g. clinics for volunteer doctors, vaccinations, eye glasses, etc.)
  4. Business incubator (e.g. farming diversification)

Chiapas has some of the richest coffees in the world but is one of the poorest states in Mexico. While the green coffee industry employees over one million people in the country, a most of the people involved in coffee production earn less than five dollars per day. Our hope at E-Café is to eliminate these extreme socio-economic disparities through entrepreneurial means, not aid. We plan to help small-scale producers compete on the global market by improving production and aggressively marketing our coffee using the four languages we know (English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese). If you want to know more about what we do or want to get involved, please contact us at ngo@e-cafechiapas.com.
