Recently, after one-time auction date delay, Mexico COE held an auction on July 24th.
The Cup of Excellence awards the COE title for the best coffees in the country after a series of intensive cupping sessions. Among the coffee submissions exhibited at the event, the winning coffee lots are, then, sold directly to auction participants of roasters and importers all over the world through an online auction platform.
Most of the sales revenue goes back to the coffee farms, which increases the income of the farmers and motivates them to produce better coffee, which in turn improves the quality of the coffee.
Red Whale Coffee from San Rafael, California, in the end, had a final bid at $7.1 for Las Chicharras COE lot.
