Las Cascadas, previous known as Belgica, is under a radical transformation.
(Las Cascadas is named after its series of water cascades. There are 7 waterfalls at Las Cascadas)
Not to mention many newly planted trees, a systematic management is taking place at Las Cascadas.
One thing that we are applying at our fincas, Las Chicharras and Las Cascadas, is a greenhouse. But Las Cascadas is a little faster with the application At both fincas, the patio for coffees is too small during the peak of the harvest. Rather than expanding the patio, we decided to go 3 dimensional and achieve consistency: African drying beds in a greenhouse.
The first step toward such system is making African drying beds.
African drying beds are actually slower at drying. The patio underneath the parchment usually absorbs heat from the sun and allows the parchment to dry faster.
But African drying beds inside a greenhouse will be different. Inside a greenhouse will be warm and protected from rain. Thus faster and consistent.
We are yet to be there but we would like to show you the pictures of the initial stages for our final product.
